Voices For Justice Annual Dinner Lantern Centerpieces. I was asked to create something that illuminated, had a long shelf life, and could store flat. This was my initial drawing.
Inspired by the rigid Human Rights Watch logo & color palette, I presented an option that offered a modern addition to a gala table top that could harmoniously exist with traditional event table decor like florals, photography, or fundraising tech (iPads / touch devices).
I initially thought of interlocking corners would be best but felt those had a higher probability to break over time. I decided acrylic panels that attached with magnets would be the best option.
Voices For Justice Annual Dinner Lantern Centerpieces. Next, I made a 3D rendering of my drawing to share with stakeholders. Once approved, I started a global search to find a manufacturer, finally settling on Falken Acrylic based in Brooklyn/Los Angeles.
Voices For Justice Annual Dinner Lantern Centerpieces. Each of the white lanterns could be ordered in 1 of 10 languages, with the ability to do 1 language on each side. Languages were chosen based on the native language of each development city. An extensive back-and-forth to settle on the proper translations of Investigate - Expose - Change ensued.
Voices For Justice Annual Dinner Lantern Centerpieces. After a few prototypes, the final product was approved and put into production. The color changing LED’s were sourced from Super Bright LED’s to offer global development cities the opportunity to adapt the lanterns to various events throughout the year.
